I had originally written articles about updating Motorola Atrix 2 to the then latest version of Android (via CM11 and later via Mokee).

I have since moved to OnePlus One and now run the latest 14.1 nightly build of LineageOS on it. But mid last year,  I got a new sim from Jio for consuming all the free data and needed a second device to use it as primarily a voice device and took out the Atrix. Guess what, it works great barring a blob on the screen due to a fall.

A few days ago, was fiddling around and messed up the OS with a recurrent ‘android.process.media‘ error. Tried quick fixes which don’t work so was looking to upgrade or reinstall the OS.  And to my surprise, realised there is a 2016 patch to the good old CM11. You can download it from here.  Remember to download an appropriate GApps (for Atrix CM11, it would be ARM, 4.4). The installation process remains the same as mentioned in the blog posts previously (you can forget partitioning etc., just overwrite your existing installation).

Now to installing it.

Enjoy!
