I end up asking this question every March or April or whenever there are internal announcements. This time around after a slew of announcements, I decided to see if the remuneration for the work I do has kept up with the times.

Here is a graph of my remuneration (gross monthly) compared with WPI, Diesel and Petrol. I chose the later as the price hikes have been happening almost every second month (5 times since December ’10 to the date of this post). I have all three measures to April 2005 data as I could get pretty accurate information of all 3 measures from then.

Pretty interesting graph. The WPI increased 52%, Petrol & Diesel prices increased 71% and 40% respectively and my Salary increased more than 3 folds. Do I need to complain or think about this every march then? I think, I am still underpaid for the kind of work I do and abilities :). Data and graph for that some other time.

Data for WPI was obtained from Office of the Economic Adviser, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. Data for fuel hikes are taken from this website and are for Mumbai.
